The CW's new series Nikita premiered Thursday night and got off to a solid start in the ratings. According to a press release from the network, the show's debut matched The CW’s all-time best ratings in the Thursday 9-10:00p.m. slot among women 18-34 with a 1.9 rating. The show also built on its Vampire Diaries premiere lead-in by 9% in total viewers (3.6mil v. 3.3mil).

Nikita's overall ratings for the night in the adults 18-49 demographic was a 1.4, which is impressive for a series debut. If the show manages to hold a good portion of that audience throughout the season, it will make a strong case for a second season renewal.
