The Amazing Race Renewed for 19th Season

A new group of contestants will once again race around the world next fall.

It is being reported tonight that CBS has renewed "The Amazing Race" for Season 19. The show will return in the fall along with "Undercover Boss", which was also renewed today.

The Amazing Race's last fall season fared well for the network, averaging almost 12 million viewers as well as posting gains in its younger demographics. The Emmy award winning series has been airing two seasons a year and is currently in the midst of its 18th - its first in high definition.

Over the course of its run, The Amazing Race has put various spins on the format of the show with varied success. There has been an all-star season featuring favorite returning teams, a family edition which featured families of four including children as young as 8, and well-known contestants from other reality shows have also competed.

The show's current season, dubbed "Unfinished Business", features returning teams that previously fell short of winning the grand prize. The format for Season 19 has yet to be unveiled.
