Fox has renewed quirky medical drama House for an eighth season. The network has finalized a deal with show producer Universal which would bring the series back in the fall.

"Over the past seven seasons, House has redefined the medical drama and has given us one of television's most compelling and iconic characters," said a statement from network president Kevin Reilly. "From the producers to the incredible writers to the unbelievably talented cast and crew, the House team is fearless in its creativity and I can’t wait to see what they have in store next year."

It is being speculated, however, that Season 8 may be House's last. Star Hugh Laurie recently told the Radio Times that next season "looks like the end of the show." Laurie's contract - along with co-stars Olivia Wilde and Peter Jaconson - is only good for one more season.
