Chuck Returning For Fifth And Final Season

The action-comedy's next season will be its last.

Some bittersweet news for Chuck fans today. NBC has confirmed that the cult hit will return for a fifth season, but also that it will be its last.

The perennial on-the-bubble show has gone through four seasons of worrying fans and "save our show" campaigns, and now that it will be coming to a predetermined end, viewers will at least get proper closure on the series. A much better scenario than what happened to two other NBC shows today: The Event and Law and Order: LA were both cancelled.

The fifth season of Chuck will be a 13 episode run, likely premiering this Fall. In a Twitter message earlier today, show creator Josh Schwartz wrote, "The passion of the CHUCK fans has been heard again... We are all truly lucky to have the greatest fan base on TV. Thank you."
