20th Season Ordered For The Amazing Race

The reality race around the world will mark 20 seasons in 2012.

CBS has ordered a 20th season of reality series The Amazing Race. The news comes just over two months since it was renewed for Season 19, which is set to air this Fall.

Since premiering in 2001, the show has been a solid ratings performer for the network, continuing to pull in good numbers after a decade on the air. Season 18 averaged a 2.6 in the adults 18-49 demographic.

There is no word on the theme for either of the upcoming seasons, but the show is known for putting various spins on its format to keep things fresh. Last season was titled Unfinished Business and showcased returning teams that came up short in previous seasons. It was also the show's high definition debut.

Season 20 of The Amazing Race is scheduled for Spring 2012.
