The sci-fi drama has been renewed for a second season.
July 7, 2011
TNT has renewed freshman series Falling Skies after airing just three episodes of the alien invasion drama. Like Season One, 10 new episodes have been ordered - which will air in the Summer of 2012.
"Falling Skies is a true standout series, from its ambitious storytelling, high-profile cast and production team to its phenomenal success when it comes to international and time-shifted viewing," said network head of programming, Michael Wright. "We're reaching new audiences with Falling Skies and look forward to seeing where this fascinating and exciting series takes us next."
Falling Skies has found early success since premiering last month, with its first episode earning an impressive 8 million viewers (Live + 7 data) and being ranked as cable's top series launch of 2011. Executive produced by Steven Spielberg, the show follows a group of survivors in the aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the earth incapacitated.

My family and I are very glad that Falling Skies has been renewed. Unlike alot of other shows on TV, it was family oriented and it didn't have sexual scenes, drug abuse, spousal abuse, or any other kind of "headlining" topics. It is just good old fasioned SciFi. I feel as others feel in that, if you don't like it, DON'T WATCH IT!!!!!!! There is no need to name call, because some the things that the TV stations have on cater to bad morality and make "bad" things look like the right thing to do. YOU GO FALLING SKIES!!!!! WE LOVE YA!!!!

I am SO glad to see this show has not been cancelled! And by the way, I neither have a "serious problem" or an IQ of "only 70". I fail to see why people insist on insulting fans of a particular show just because it is not their cup of tea. If you do not like "end of the world" shows or "disaster movie shows" or "alien invasion" shows or any other classification you care to use for this show then you should just turn the channel. Why must people be so negative. Try to remember that this not a documentary, just a fun television show, lighten up people!!!

I was so excited by this show when I first saw the previews because other than "The Walking Dead" there really wasn't anything like it on t.v. Keeping in mind that S.S. was involved with the production and that it was a TNT drama I kept my expectations relatively low. At first I was enamored by this show but slowly became frustrated because I agree that it felt to me like small events were being stretched for airtime. Perhaps that can be blamed on the writers and even the director/producers for allowing it to happen but either way the show needs some work. I don't believe if the show is left the way it is that it will make it past a 2nd season but if some timeline issues and events are incorporated better and seamlessly then it has the potential to be almost as good as "The Walking Dead"....ok maybe not.

If you have an IQ of about 70 you might like the show. This is THE MOST BORING SHOW on TV. Absolute waste of time. All the previous comments have said it nicely. It is ALL OF THE ABOVE. How did this crap get renewed??? Really???

I watched the first hour of the first show and gave up. A few days ago I got to wondering what ever happened to this show. It was a big surprise that to me that it was renewed. I'll agree with the other poster that the only reason it stayed on the air was because of the name attached to it. His initials are SS.
