Hawthorne Cancelled After Three Seasons

TNT will not move forward with a fourth season of the medical drama.

September 2, 2011

After three seasons on the air, Hawthorne has been cancelled. TNT issued a statement today that they will not be ordering a fourth season of the Jada Pinkett Smith-led medical drama.

Hawthorne premiered back in 2009 to mixed reviews from critics, but managed high enough ratings to stay on the air for three seasons with a total of 30 episodes. The show's series finale aired last month on August 16.

they seem to do that to all good black tv shows. It sucks that while tv has progressed as far as technology, it is still primitve in its ethnic thinking.

This is 2011 and EVERYONE in society deserves to see Black people in more roles than just thugs, crack addicts, with baby mama/daddy drama. The fact that the ratings were (supposedly) low just shows that we as a society have not moved forward in accepting Blacks in leading, realistic roles and performances. There are newer versions of Bill Cosby and Diahann Carroll. Jada Pinkett Smith, Michael Vartan, Marc Anthony, and the rest of the cast did a tremendous job in their characterizations. They had leading roles that normally would go to their white counterparts. I just think its VERY SAD and embarassing that we present our country as liberating, democratic, a melting-pot and we can't event support a diverse acting cast with superb performance abilities to success...Would the show have been a success with an all-white cast or with Black characterizations that celebrated teen pregnancy, low-income housing life, drug addiction, or low-income professionals?

I am so pissed off the show has ended. I watched every episode. Did he die was he murdered or was it suicide? Will christina and tom work things out ... we may never know now that the show has been canceled. They cancel the best shows and continue to renew shows that are full of trash and filth .

I'm upset the show was cancelled. However, this season was a failure. You take the only majority black cast drama, with a positive black woman in the leading role,& you regress Christina from hardworking, & strong-willed nurse to angry black woman, cheating & confuse whore, not to mention do as I say, not as I do parenting. She feels sorry for herself, and that's another message that can't fly with her using it as anger to justify her affair. Yes, it was horrible they way she was attacked, but she can't blame Tom for it. Drama is good, but this show had a responsibility to show the positive black woman, not morally corrupt, angry, confused, victim/double-minded woman. So disappointed!

I liked the show a lot. I didn't like the way it ended. Is he dead? No, I didn't like her cheating on her husband, but she was feeling really isolated from him, and it shows that she is human.
Oprah, maybe you should pick this show up.

Hawthorne was by far one of the most interesting television series that I have had the pleasures of watching. I was pleased with every season, because it brought reality to the show. It seems to me that the reason for cancelling would be because of the infidelity of Christina. Truth be told, that is what kept me glued to the television weekly. I wanted to know how it was going to play out. Please TNT give us at least one more season, and end the show the right way!!

So Hawthorne is cancelled. Good! They took a strong, married woman of character and turned her into a cheating whore. I was so disgusted with this turn of events that I refused to watch anymore. And that sad explanation that she gave: Tom was suppportive, didn't know how to help her But, Nick who has experience in this area knew how to help her was so weak it made me sick.
