Production has been shut down on the struggling new cop drama.
November 16, 2011
NBC has finally pulled the plug on its low-rated freshman drama Prime Suspect. The series has struggled to find an audience since premiering in September, and after it was left off the network's midseason schedule earlier this week, the writing was on the wall. Word is now that production has now been shut down completely.
NBC did its best to boost Prime Suspect's viewership, airing a large amount of promo spots for the show and even airing repeats in the prime time slot of cancelled series The Playboy Club. Ratings, however, did not improve.
It is being reported that all 13 episodes that were produced will air, although it is not known if NBC will keep the show in its current Thursday night time slot. Six new episodes remain in Prime Suspect's first and final season.

What a shame that this show was canceled. Prime Suspect was the best police / crime show to air in years. Hopefully another channel, ie TNT, will pick it up.

Show was too good to be on NBC, told my friends they'll cancel it because it's not dumb enough to appeal to their ideal demography.....PEOPLE WITH NO BRAINS!
Sure enough 2 months later they cancel it. Bravo NBC for making me look so smart!

I am sick! I kept waiting for my show PRIME SUSPECT and now find out you cancelled it. I love the writing and the intraction of characters-but mostly LOVED MARIA BELLO's acting, the way she would look and not say anything sometimes. She is fantastic and you let her show go. BAD BUSINESS! I turn off tv now with some of the junk you serve up.
