The CW has cancelled Ringer after one season. The freshman drama was Sarah Michelle Gellar's latest venture back to television, but fell short of the success earned from her last successful series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which ran for seven years.

Things looked good when Ringer first premiered last September. It was the first new series on The CW to receive a full season pick up, giving the series hope for a bright future. Ratings, however, took a turn for the worse - along with many other shows on the network, it should be noted - and fell to the 0.4-0.5 range among adults 18-49 for the second half of the season.

The network obviously couldn't justify renewing the series at its current viewership level, even given the star power of Gellar, who has her own legion of dedicated fans.
