The historical drama's next season will be its last.
June 5, 2012
Starz has announced that Spartacus will be ending after its upcoming third season. The historical drama, which is the highest rated show on the network, aired its second season finale back on March 30, 2012. Plans to end the popular show were partially influenced by the loss of actor Andy Whitfield, who played the original Spartacus.
The show's creator has said that the final season will run for 10 episodes and be titled Spartacus: War of the Damned. Production on Season 3 has already started, though no return date has been announced.

Can't say I'm surprised. Don't get me wrong, I like the show, but the first season was the best, IMHO. After they changed the star due to unfortunate turn of events called life, it's been different somehow. It's still pretty good, but something's missing. I hope to find it more interesting in the last season.

Enjoyed the series. Does this means Spartacus frees other slaves, one being a new love who has his baby before he gets caught and crucified? Just wondering the ending will mirror the original Kurk Douglas film. Ok Starz, surprise us again. Maybe you can get Spartacus and his men fight along side Stark's men in Game of Thornes?

too bad it will be the final season for spartacus, hopefully starz can replace it with something good like showtime's dexter, shameless and homeland. btw for people asking, season 1 is blood and sand, followed by a prequel 1.5 gods of the arena, then season 2 vengeance, so its the third this time :D

Isn't it actually season 4?
Even though I already knew this was going to it's last season I am still terribly sad over it. Such a great show. I can't even say how much I looked forward to each episode. So thankful for 3 fantastic seasons and can't wait for the finale I know it'll be outstanding!

Great show but the last season wasn't that great. The first 2 seasons were really good. Shouldn't this be the 4th season coming up?

Most backwards run show ever.. season 1 (blood and sand) was actually, what?, season 3. Season 2 (Gods of the arena) was uhm... season .. nothing.. just a non-sequitur.... Season 3 (Vengeance) is meant to be season 1. And this upcoming season (war of the damned) will be what? Season 2? Season 4? Another non-sequitur???
