TNT has ordered 10 new episodes for 2013.
July 11, 2012
TNT announced today that Falling Skies has been renewed for a third season. The Noah Wyle drama has been having a successful run since debuting last summer. Its first season finished as basic cable's top new series of 2011, and it currently ranks as basic cable's #1 summer drama among adults 18-49.
"Falling Skies is television storytelling at its very best, a powerful drama that's told on both an epic scale and on a deeply personal level," said TNT president Michael Wright. "With all the memorable and surprising moments taking place during the second season of Falling Skies, we can't wait to see what DreamWorks Television and Falling Skies' terrific production team and cast members have in store for season three."
The network has ordered 10 new episodes of the alien invasion drama for 2013. No premiere date is set, but a June return looks likely at this point.
UPDATE: Falling Skies Season 3 premieres on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at 9:00pm.

It's no wonder really good shows get cancelled the dang networks leave us hanging and let a show go months between episodes, once loyal watchers loose interest after 3,4, or even 6 months of the show being gone. We go on to other new ones that may interfere with what we were once loyal too. The idiot producers don't care they just make another and leave us hanging they need to see why csi, mentalist and others keep their audiences. By not being off the sir for month on end

What are the dumb dumbs at TNT doing. They only order 10 episodes a year. This is only enough shows to get you interested , then drop you like a rock . When it comes to good shows with good stories . They act cheap penny pinching bums . And the people. At FX have spent millions ordering 90 episodes of Anger Management , Charlie Sheen .Why can't TNT order at least 45 episodes of FALLING SKIES??? . And do away with all this reality shows.........

It's been a crazy ride with the 2nd Mass. But yes the gap is to far to long to have to wait and see what happens. Thanks Falling Skys for such a great show.

It seems the reason that of the invasion is known, but has not been put out. It would seem that the reason after 2 years could and should be out. Because of the new invaders landing.

My only complaint is the 10 episode season crap and waiting a yr in between its rather annoying. Reading some of these morons talk crap about the show however is amusing sounds like they have nothing better to do than complain about something. Being its overall rating I'm glad to see so many others like it too, I've got a show I can stay interested in that's not cancelled after first or second season. Hope this show stays around for a while but that they start either increaseing number of episodes or close the gap between seasons.

Great show, so much better then mainstream TV, at first i didn't like weaver but I have come to like him, keep up the good work TNT its one of the best shows on the box, sure we could do with more episodes per season but I think 10 is the new sweet spot, roll on walking dead & game of thrones

This show lost me as a viewer after season one for two reasons. First, the 10-episode season is an epidemic at TNT. It's ridiculous to have to wait a year for ten more episodes. This reason is the same reason I stopped watching Rizzoli and Isles and did not watch Dallas. I will not get tied up in any show who doesn't give its fans more. Second, Will Patton/Capt. Weaver was annoying from the start. He was not the best choice for that role and is difficult to like as a leader of pseudo-military forces. The show, overall, is good. But, TNT is hurting its own fanbase.

Stephen, you're absolutely correct!! 10 episodes is just enough to get you involved in the show again. After 10 episodes, I'm really into the story, but it's taken nearly the entire 10 episodes for me to get back into it. When I heard the season FINALE! is coming this week, I came directly to this site. Certainly it had to be a mistake. Either it was a mistake,or TNT was pulling the plug early. Those were the only 2 options I considered realistic, but 10 episodes? Again!?! Like you Stephen, if they pull this again next year, they could lose me as a viewer. I don't know where cable is pulling out this 10 episode season sh-t, but it's the same thing with Game of Thrones, Homeland, Shameless, Dexter, Girls, Being Human, Alphas, et. al. I absolutely HATE 10 show seasons. GEESH!
