Jane by Design Cancelled After One Season

ABC Family has pulled the plug on the freshman drama.

August 20, 2012

Jane by Design will not be returning for a second season. ABC Family has decided not to renew the freshman drama after a low-rated first season of 18 episodes.

Over the course of its run, Jane by Design averaged roughly 1.3 million viewers per episode. The series followed a teenager who lands a dream job at a New York fashion house.

"I've signed so many petitions to bring the show back"

LOL!!! Really? Petitions? You really think that makes a difference to a TV station? Don't waste your time.
Also you said "Just because when it first came out doesn't mean people are not going to see on Netflix, Internet,T.V etc. ABC family didn't think about that. Can I ask what that does for the network? How does that benefit ABCFam?? Its all about advertising. I wish people were more understanding about how networks run and why they cancel shows. I just don't understand how people totally to get why shows are cancelled. After 18 episodes it still averaged a 1.3. Which means: THAT SUCKS!!!!

I've seen the show Jane by design on Netflix, and I have to say it was one of the most amazing shows I've ever watched. Mid-first season I went on Google to see if there was going to be a second season or when it was coming back, and then I read it was going to be cancelled. I can't tell you how heartbroken I am. I've signed so many petitions to bring the show back. Please bring it back! Also I've been reading other comments, on here. If your all so disappointed do something about it, sign petitions, contact ABC Family. The more people the better chance it has on renewing for a second season.

Also for those who didn't know why it got cancelled: Because of low-ratings. But I just think that's ridiculous. Just because when it first came out doesn't mean people are not going to see on Netflix, Internet,T.V etc. ABC family didn't think about that. They rather have shows about lying girls, getting stalked, pregnancy, etc. That's just setting a bad example. At least with this show it was showing Courage, Hope, & Dreams. Sign petitions, don't just be bummed it's not going to have another season, Let your voice be heard, like me. With just a lot of people they may bring it back.
Miss this show

OMG!! I can not believe this show is cancelled!!! This was one of my faves! It really did give teens something to look forward to after graduating. I really wish ABC Family would reconsider...
