I wish BBC would reconsider ending this wonderful series. I will miss it very much. I love the characters, and the story lines.

The nice thing about legends is that they're wonderful fodder for spinning off other legends. So it is that in the US we got "Smallville," a wonderful spinoff legend from the Superman comic book legends. The BBC did the same with "Merlin." I've read many variations (spinoffs) of the Arturian legend, and see "Merlin" as just another spinoff, in this case quite well done. I'm fortunate to get the BBC, have seen Season 5, and am very happy with how they finished it up. Now my next hope is MOVIE! MOVIE! MOVIE!

They are not canceling Merlin. It is the series finalie. They are ending the series after 5 years. I love this show. Love the actors but most off I like the twist on the Arthur legend. I'm buying season 4 this Jan and can't wait to watch it Even my husband watches it

I watched it every now and then, real good family show, kinda old school in a nice way. This is really gay but I always thought Merlin looked a little freakish but I watched and ep recently after not watching if for a good couple of years and he looked strikingly handsome. Five years is long enough.

Sorry to hear that the series will not go on. I watch this from the UK and will really miss it. Even though it doesn't follow the true Merlin story, the acting, the storylines, and the special effects make it a good show. Not surprised at the cancellation as the UK usually only run a show for 5 or 6 series. Glad I have it on DVD.

I'm sorry for those who loved it, but at least it is winding up properly. I tried to like it, but since I studied the Arturian legend in college, I just couldn't ignore that the only thing this series had in common with the legend are the names. I didn't know this was from the BBC and am very surprised they would so totally trash their own awesome British legend for commercial reasons. The real beloved epic legend has deep and tragic characters and the story enduring lessons for humanity through the ages. Many believe that it is based on truth and is the story of the origin of England. I hope that those of you who loved this show would go and check out the real legend so it doesn't get lost. Watch an awesome 1981 movie, by John Boorman, called Excalibur. Plus a great book to read is The Once and Future King by T H White. Or just google it and check it out online.

The BBC have long stated they are wrapping it up, not cancelling it.
The show will come to a "natural and dramatic end".

Sorry to see it get cancelled, just finish watching the 4th season and love watching this magical series. I hope with the cancellation we, in the states, will still get the opportunity to watch the 5th series. Arthur is now King and we need to see the complete story. Both my husband and I always looked forward to sitting down in the evening watching this.

I'm glad we as the fans can see the series finale. Some networks will not let you say good bye to your favorite characters.
