Starz Renews Da Vinci's Demons

The new drama will return in 2014.

April 18, 2013

Starz has announced that its latest original series Da Vinci's Demons has been renewed for a second season. The historical fantasy drama had a solid premiere for the network earlier this month, where it drew 2.14 million total viewers over its opening weekend.

Production on the show's second season will begin in Wales next month, with a return expected in 2014.

Excellent series. A mix of real history with fantasy in such a bold dramatic way. Isn't that what entertainment is all about? Hope it continues on and on!

One of the best new shows....Starz has a hit on its hands. Show picked up after 2nd episode...I learned a long time ago to watch the 1st and 2nd before I turn it off for good. WTG Starz!

One of the best series currently on TV, possibly the second best only behind Game of Thrones. I'm very happy this show was renewed for the second season it so badly deserves.
The show has some incredible new acting talent, and a superbly written script which mixes in both historical and fantasy elements. I'm surprised the ratings were so good considering the bold nature of the story, but it's a rare treat indeed when a TV Network actually keeps the show primarily geared for more intelligent audience.
Bravo, I hope this show goes on for at least 4 or 5 more seasons.

Starz has had a couple good shows, Spartacus, Boss and thats about it. The rest of the shows on the network, Torchwood, Camelot and especially Davinci are horrible. This show has got to be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.

.. Starz not a TV show network??/ Really? So Boss, Camelot, Crash, Gravity, Spartacus, Torchwood, Head Case, Party Down, and Pillars of the Earth, don't count? See the trend? Sappy drama for drama's sake. No action, only a couple comedies (which were weak). Truth is Starz is picking HORRIBLE series to run. DaVinci's Demons is not any different. They apparently can't afford the better written shows other networks are picking up. If you search wikipedia for upcoming Starz series guess what you find? More slow moving drama slated for future releases. Truth is Starz has no clue how to program for a series.

i actually am intrigued by the first episode but to renew it so early seems so out of character surely they want this to get popular and then dump it once we say we like it, isnt that the norm now?

Starz really isn't a TV show network so there experiences are limited. They are trying to break out into the TV Show realm though. They have been wanting to enter the market much like Reelz has been doing. So yeah, premature maybe but it's exciting for them.

I watched the first one, was not that impressed. It did get better near the end, and I will give it another shot. I am surprised at the early renewal.

Seems way premature. I tried the first episode (which is the only episode that has aired at this time) and didn't even finish it. I turned it off with about 10 minutes left. That says a lot when someone doesn't even care how an episode ends. I won't be turning in for episode 2... but Starz already renewed it? They must just need ANYTHING to air. This show is a clunker.
