The Killing is being brought back from the dead - again. For the second time, the show is being "un-cancelled", but not by original network AMC. This latest resurrection come by way of Netflix, who worked out a deal for one final season of the crime drama that will consist of a shortened six episode run.
Stars Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman will return for The Killing's final bow, which is set to begin production early next year. Although no launch date has been set, Netflix plans to roll out the last season simultaneously across all its global territories.
UPDATE: The final season of The Killing premieres on Netflix on August 1, 2014.

Why would anyone revive a show that has been cancelled twice?

I thought season three is the best. Season one would've been the best if it hadn't been dragged out two seasons. Hope netflix encourages the show to do the same as season three, begin and end a case in one season. Glad to hear it will be on Netflix. I'll definitely be watching!

I LOVED the first few seasons of the killing but it has become utter boring CRAP. Why won't Netflix revive some actually GOOD cancelled shows like The Borgias or Copper instead of this stinking turd?! It's just beyond me...

No Netflix can un-cancel what I already cancelled right after The Killing's 3rd season finale. I cannot understand for the life of me what I was thinking when I decided to follow this show after its first resurrection. It might be some kind of unrealistic hope that it'd become... good, or maybe it was simple masochism. But never again, that's for sure.

This could be an amazing new trend, Netflix picking up shows for a final season when the parent station cancels a show without a proper ending. Now we just need that final season of Deadwood, come on Netflix!

I've always loved The Killing. Glad to see it'll get to be back for at least a proper ending. It's pretty ridiculous that a good show like this keeps getting cancelled, but there's crap still in tv that's been there for years.
