The comedy will not return after the Olympics.
February 5, 2014
It is being reported that NBC has cancelled The Michael J. Fox Show, removing the freshman comedy's remaining episodes from its schedule. The show premiered last fall with a straight-to-series order of 22 episodes - a full season's worth - but has only aired 15 of those to this point. It is unknown whether the remaining seven episodes will ever be released.
Today's cancellation comes one week after the network pulled the plug on Sean Saves the World, another freshman comedy that shared the 9:00pm comedy hour with The Michael J. Fox Show on Thursday nights. In the time slot, episodes of Hollywood Game Night will air beginning February 27.

I watched the show a couple of times but couldn't get into it. Not big on comedies but I used to watch Family ties all the time. I liked Mike in Good Wife a lot. it was a good part for him. I am sorry that the show got cancelled though. I think often times shows are cancelled before they are given a chance. It could be the time slot.

I agree it was the writing that killed this. It was just hack writing. The actors and direction were good, but the writing was trying so hard to be something and never quite reached it. I made Modern Family references right off the bat... but whoever was writing had no clue how to pull that off.

I did not crack a smile through the first 2 episodes. The writing was very dull and the show plodded from one boring unfunny scene to the next. Alex P. Keaton and Marty McFly seemed to leap off the screen with charisma. This character always seemed like he was on the way to get a root canal. Very disappointing show, glad it's over, bring on something new.

I'm really sad to read the show was cancelled. I've always enjoyed watching Michael J. Fox, and to see him continue in his profession as an actor who suffers from such a horrendous illness, I found inspiring. I did like his show and loved the cast.

This wasn't exploitation at all. Do you seriously think he'd sign up for it otherwise!!
The season was based on his MJs excellent episode for Curb your Enthusiasm...its just it wasn't as funny as this. It went for the Modern Family vibe but the writing was too poor in comparison.

What I want to know is...why did they even make this show in the first place? It was like total exploitation. Anything for a quick buck. Hollywood is sick, twisted and demented.

My husband and I love Michael J Fox but could not get into this show - we saw about three to four episodes, we looked at each other and said "It's just not funny and the characters suck" - what a shame, we really did want to like this show. Now, Sean Saves the World was awesome and hysterical - sorry to see that show go - what a bummer.

It was more of a family show than a comedy show. More like Family Matters than all about Michael. The later episodes were a lot better. I wish they had promoted it correctly then it might have had a chance. The characters were very relatable if you went in with an open mind and gave it a chance. Sad to see the underdog get kicked out.

This is so WRONG. Again, the networks cancel a great comedy. REALLY. Open your house people.

Michael has always been one of the good guy's. Nothing bad has ever been said about him. Sorry the show did not have what it takes to be successful. Would like to see him play the lawyer more on the Good Wife, that part is perfect for him. Good luck mike I am rooting for you. MKL
