Fox announced dates for the next round of American Idol auditions today, confirming that the long-running singing competition has been renewed for a 14th season.
Auditions kick off on June 18 in Minneapolis, MN and will continue through the summer months, hitting cities such as New Orleans, Uniondale, Nashville, and San Francisco.
No premiere date has been announced, but an early 2015 return is likely.
Update: Season 14 of American Idol will premiere on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 8:00pm.

I think this show is so fake. Everything is pre-made, calculated, fabricated and people's votes really do not count. Ryan S is done and I am too. I enjoy the Voice so much better with actual real talent. I predict that this next season will be the last season for Idol.

They just don't know how to let go! Show should have ended 5 years ago. This season was so bad that even a die hard fan like my husband has had enough. For the past 7 years we have only tuned in when Hollywood week is over ~ all the useless, tasteless drama makes it more of a soap opera than a reality singing show.
Good luck to those of you who tune in to watch paint dry yet another season.

As I predicted on another thread, this steaming pile of garbage has again been renewed. This could be last in the ratings and they would still renew it. More money in the pocket of the most talentless personality in TV history, Ryan Seacrest. Hopefully, one day this is cancelled. We are doomed to years of this and that other piece of trash, Glee.
