AMC announced this morning that Halt and Catch Fire has been renewed for a second season. The freshman series, which premiered in June, is the most recent scripted drama from the cable network. While it has struggled somewhat in the ratings department, AMC noted the show's committed core audience and critical acclaim.
“This is a show about invention, experimentation, and the inherent risks in trying to break new ground – themes that really resonate with us as a network and attracted a passionate audience,” said AMC president, Charlie Collier, in a press release. “We have a history of demonstrating patience through the early seasons of new shows, betting on talent and building audience over time. We see that opportunity here and look forward to a second season of ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ from creators Chris Cantwell and Chris Rogers, and showrunner Jonathan Lisco.”
Look for Season 2 of Halt and Catch Fire to premiere in summer 2015.

YES!!!!! This is excellent and surprising news. Here's hoping this show can finally catch on. They've definitely gotta get it out there on NetFlix AND Amazon Prime so the show can build a following before Season 2.

I guess I can binge watch it now. I've been recording it, but I have also been waiting to find out its fate so I don't get into something yet again that gets cancelled. I'm glad to see people overjoyed that it got renewed. I imagine I will be one of them soon!

Thank god, I've been checking on this show every other day to did out if it was going to be renewed. I hope they out it on Netflix and maybe it'll help people realize what a great show it is by binge watching it. Can't wait for season 2!

YES! Thank you AMC! My wife and I love this show and watching it develop. The acting is great; the characters are full of depth. This show, like Breaking Bad, requires patience to see the characters change and grow, but that patience is highly rewarded. Can't wait 'til next summer!
