NBC announced today at its TCA summer press tour that The Celebrity Apprentice will be taking a season off and returning in 2016-2017. The network made the move in order to allow time to search for a new host for the reality competition, who will replace the departing Donald Trump.

NBC recently cut ties with Trump due to his presidential run and subsequent controversial remarks. Until now he has hosted every season of The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice since the franchise's debut in 2004.

There is no word who the replacement host might end up being, but NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt did say there were a good number of exciting people who have expressed interest in taking over the duties.
