Syfy has cancelled Defiance after its third season. The drama, which premiered in 2013, drew solid ratings for the network during its first two seasons but saw a significant dip in viewership this past summer.
Defiance aired a total of 38 episodes over the course of its run.

This makes me sad. It seems like every time I invest in a SyFy show, they end up canceling it. I think I'm done with them. I cannot imagine why I need to waste my time getting involved in something so they can axe it. Perhaps they should have looked at why the ratings dropped off and bettered the story line. Phooey on you SyFy!

NOOO!!!!! I really did like that show a lot. Fridays nights really hurt it's ratings. I will really miss it. I wish I could have seen how the half-human/half-alien baby turned out when he grew up.

I thought that the writers sort of under performed a bit on this. The premise was very interesting and they had some good talent on the show. That being said, I thought the lost a lot of opportunities to explore some more complex topic matter.
Of course - they wouldn't have lasted a season if they had.. oh well, Syfy is making it easy to lower my cable bill by picking a lower package they are NOT on.

What the crap?!? This is so wrong. They keep killing off every show I like and yet keep putting idiotic stuff out there like Sharknado. No wonder the network is considered a joke.... SMDH

The historical practice of SciFi cancelling are season 1, means that producers don't plan for their show to go much past that first season. Because of that, most shows they push become stale after the second season.
They need to start over. Rebuild from the ground up, by giving a show a 4-5 season guaranteed contract. So that some good content can be produced with a long term plan for success.

scy fy does it again. They cancelled this show and it was pretty good. Dominion was also great show , this was a solid sci fi effort. Any show on sci fi is lucky to survive more than few seasons. The list is long and unfortunate. The only one I wasn't surprised about was 'helix' , still KNOCK It off sci fi.

i liked this but like most shows after series 1 they loose story line and it just seems to be a weekly show nothing to be gripped about seems all shows go this way.

Syfy their a joke. At work we bet on how long a show will last. Bad thing is none of us watch the shows, we come here to see if cancelled. Lol...
