The new comedy gets the back-nine.
October 27, 2015
CBS has topped up Season 1 of Life in Pieces, ordering the back-nine episodes for the show today. The freshman comedy is off to a solid start for the network, garnering healthy ratings through its first five episodes in its Monday night time slot.
Life in Pieces won't be staying on Mondays though. The show is making the move to Thursday nights beginning next week on November 5, where it will air at 8:30pm following The Big Bang Theory.

are they kidding with this? it's almost an exact copy of Modern Family, right down to stolen storylines (e.g. walking in on your parents doing it) to directly ripped-off jokes almost word for word from MF. the show is nothing original at all and the characters are just plain boring. this should never have even gotten on air.
and yes, The Big Bang Theory has basically just turned into Friends now.

The disjointed style of "stories" is GREAT writing for a quality new show. What YOU think is disjointed is exactly how random life is, broken down into vignettes that are the collection of our memories in life in the stories we tell. When you reminisce or share an anecdote of your first kiss, does that segue naturally into when a category 5 hurricane threatened to hit your town and you got stuck in traffic for 10 hours trying to evacuate? Although not a completely original concept as it's been done before, most recently in the movie This Is 40, it's the only show of it's kind on TV right now. This is a refreshing style change in comedy where even the new Muppets show is using the getting tired mockumentary style that was once refreshing to see when The Office started airing. I'm actually quite shocked it's on CBS, being that they run the same standard old school laugh tracked comedies that are badly passe to me. For me, The Big Bang Theory is a "same thing new actors", "been there seen it" show.

Really? I'd have pegged this one to fail after seeing a few episodes. The disjointed style of "stories" is just bad writing. There's no reason they couldn't create segues rather than just segments. I like the cast.. but it all kind of feels like "same thing new actors", "been there seen it."

This show is fine & the cast is very good. It's just all that original.
