'The End' is declared in surprising fashion.
June 20, 2016
And just like that, it's over. In a shocking move, Penny Dreadful was brought to an unexpected close with last night's Season 3 finale. After a major character death during the 2-part conclusion, the words "The End" appeared on-screen to the surprise of many. Ahead of the episode, even the network itself was promoting it as a season finale rather than a series finale.
To address those in denial, the network, as well as Penny Dreadful's creator John Logan, both confirmed the end of the series following the episode. And though the finale came as a surprise to viewers, plans for the end game had been in place since early Season 3 planning.

What a sad way to end such a great show... They had such excellent actors and iconic characters you'd think they would have been able to run the show for a few more seasons. They bring in Jekyll and do absolutely nothing with him. Dracula? What potential.... Nothing... A Vampire looking for a bride.. Really?
What a waste... I can only hope the early termination was because the actors wanted out once they saw that the show was going nowhere because the powers that be lacked true vision...
Best wishes to each of the actors, I look forward to your next projects...

Ok, why take off one of the good ones? I always sat in front of my TV waiting on this show. SMH, oh well, what are they going to replace it with?

loved the show, first 2 seasons were amazing, wish they would have spent a little more time on the writing for this last season, everything just seem to go in fast forward the last couple episodes, i guess i should be thankful they give it some kind of ending
