More episodes ordered for the series reboot.
October 17, 2016
CBS announced today MacGyver has been topped up to a full 22 episode first season. The 2016 update to the 1980s action-adventure series is four weeks into its debut run, where it has so far surprised with solid ratings in its Friday night time slot.
Expectations for the series were decidedly low, and early reviews have not been kind. Despite its uphill battle, the show's numbers have told a different story, with an overall improvement in its time slot vs. last year in both total viewers and the adults 18-49 demographic.
The network has commissioned nine new episodes to add to the already-ordered 13, hoping that the show's strong start amounts to more than just the nostalgia factor.

Jacks, I can only hope they cancel all the shows you watch. It would. make room for some decent content. Im sure that the reality shows that you love are the best thing in your life.

It only took about 30 minutes of this to realize this reboot would not be my cup of tea even though I was a big fan of the original

I was an 80's teen, but I never got into the original show back then, so I am kinda liking the reboot. I know what the old show was about, but I have never really watched it even in repeats. This show is not an awesome show, but it is entertaining.

I gave up on this one after the second episode. I'm surprised (and not surprised) this got a renewal. I'm surprised in the sense that it's a crap show, but I'm not surprised in the sense that the networks seem to have a massive hard-on for 80's tv show reboots right now. I had a feeling I wasn't going to enjoy the show when I read that they'd had to completely re-tool the show twice before they even got a proper pilot finished. Now that the networks have renewed this and a couple other crap shows like Lethal Weapon and Van Helsing, it's only a matter of time before they start dropping the axe on shows that we do like and do want to keep around. *sigh*

Jumped ship 3/4 through the premier... I thought to myself.. 'Why am I watching this junk? There are better things on the DVR." and never looked back.

This show is great, the first two episodes are a little slow but during episode 3 it picks up big time, I am glad it is on the renewal track for a second season i love The reboot, Rush hour was absoulute crap hence it's cancellation.

Your kidding right? The hate for this show is almost as bad as it was for Rush Hour. This show being picked up again just shows you Hollywood is now desperate for content and has run out of ideas. The show is TERRIBLE.

I also agree with Bill. I didnt last through the second episode either, and I have no idea who is still watching though. Reboots should be baked to a different recipe (like Macgyver being a woman, or freelance gardener) or, like Bill said, focus on the original story but with a different generation of charactors. I had hopes, but it was too dissappointing to watch...

Why? Stop al the remakes and reboots. I beg Hollywood. Please be original. I never watched this and never will. Bad moved CBS.

I forced myself through episode 1, and 15 minutes into episode 2, I was done. Canceled the series recording. Absolute crap.
