The sophomore comedy gets a small top up.
November 5, 2016
ABC has extended the sophomore season of The Real O'Neals by three episodes. The top up takes its episode count up to 16, which falls short of what would typically amount to a full season for a fall series.
The show premiered earlier this year as a mid-season entry, where it garnered favorable reviews and respectable ratings over the spring months. Its solid performance prompted a quick renewal and a move to the network's fall lineup, though its numbers are down so far through the first four episodes of Season 2.

Very good show! Always love Martha Plimpton, and the other actors are great as well. The gay storylines are done well, but also enjoy watching it become more of an ensemble cast as time goes on.

@Josh, I posted something similar last season when it got renewed -- how they were just focusing on the gay storyline when there were other characters. Funny thing, the last episode I saw had several scenes where other characters stated "It's not always about you being gay, Kenny". If they can diversify the scripts and NOT always focus on teh gay aspect, it could be a decent show. But, well... I only catch it now and then. It's not something I am sure to watch every week.

We stopped watching because it became ALL about the gay kid. It was funny & enjoyable at first, but then all they focus on is the gay kid. We get it kid, you're gay, but there are other characters on the show.

I'm so glad. This is one of my fav shows. Since it's actually a good comedy, it'll probably get cancelled.
