December 13, 2016
It was announced this afternoon that TV Land has cancelled Impastor after two seasons. The comedy ended its sophomore run just last week, which over its 10 episodes averaged 360,000 viewers in Live+Same Day ratings.
Impastor followed the life of gambling addict Buddy Dobbs, a low-life slacker who ends up posing as a small town's gay pastor in order to hide from a loan shark chasing him down. The series aired a total of 20 episodes over its two seasons.

No, This was too far fetched to be entertaining. The Church that hired him did no background check? No picture Id? Wow! They wanted us to believe that he was almost found out, but also want us to believe that they did do diligence in hiring a church official (They fingerprint people who just want to volunteer at most churches, they would check a photo id) Poor Writing! Lame Show! Also when is this set? 1990's? The writers need to learn how to work modern technology.
The show got canned because nobody watched it. Or in other words The majority of people agreed it was a show not worth watching.

While what everyone else is saying is true (it was far fetched) that doesn't mean it wasn't entertaining. It still gave me a laugh and that's what I need in my current situation. This show will be missed.

I think you have it backwards from what Viewer is saying. Viewer is right. It is not about over thinking the premise. They spent to much time putting the lead in danger of being found out that they made it harder for the characters to not notice and stay believable. By the end they had townsfolks so naive that they should't have been able to function. At some point the town collapses from its own stupidity or acknowledges it knew what was going on. The town ( and the show) collapsed.

In all fairness, over-think ANY sitcom and the plot holes abound. I could ramble for weeks about less than stellar sitcom plots. However, this was an entertaining watch. Sure it may not have been a "perfect" reality-based mystery, but that wasn't really the point. And it was a damn-sight better than Soul Man or Younger.

Did the Denny's hire One guy then have a totally different guy show up and nobody say anything? It happens but it also is found out quite easily. The problem was that the writing was of the "lets get close to him being found out but then make the people stupid for the sake of the plot." This is not breaking bad level "lets have the criminal outsmart the others."

Hey American viewer poster.
Down the street at the Denny's by my house, they had a waiter who worked there 7 years all the while being on the FBI's most wanted list. It isn't surprising that there are employers that are idiots. Look at Trump he thought selling steak at an electronic store was a good idea.

This show would have been better if they would have spent sometime on the writing. It felt like they had a plot outline but never rely went to flesh it out. The 5 episodes I saw were all about him trying not to get found out and the citizens of the town in no way caring who he was. In this day and age it is unbelievable that a church would not know who they hired, or check on the new pastor on the interwebs before hand. The writer chose a plot and then never filled in the plot holes, and had the characters have selective perception.
I don't even watch TVLAnd and saw about a hundred commercials for it, so they promoted it well enough. It had to be the writing, plot, and acting that turned people off

THIS SHOW FEATURED EVERYTHING AN ADULT VIEWER WOULD DESIRE. GOOD PLOT-HUMOR-A DASH OF RAUNCHY-MEMORABLE CHARACTERS-SUPERIOR SITCOM ACTING. THE SHOW WAS EXTREMELY WELL WRITTEN. TVLAND DID A POOR JOB IN PROMOTING THIS SHOW. I RAN ACROSS IT BY ACCIDENT. YOU WOULD EXPECT THE BRAINLESS EXECS AT FOX NETWORK TO CANCEL A QUALITY SHOW, HOWEVER, I EXPECTED MORE FROM TVLAND. I HOPE ANOTHER NETWORK PICKS IT UP FOR THE THIRD SEASON.

This is one of the few programs TV Land offered worth this viewer's time. It is witty, naughty, and very enjoyable. Extremely disappointed to hear of its cancellation. Nothing else to view on that network. Too bad.

TV Land is getting as bad as the major networks with canceling shows that I enjoyed. I really enjoyed this one am sorry to see it go. Maybe someone with some sense will pick kit up.
