It was announced today that Haters Back Off has been renewed for a second season on Netflix. The comedy premiered back in October and was notable because it marked the first time a scripted series was created by a YouTube personality.
The half-hour show follows the life of Miranda Sings, a quirky oddball seeking fame who is played by YouTube personality Colleen Ballinger. The character originated on YouTube in 2008 and has amassed quite a large following over the years, with its channel currently sitting at over 7 million subscribers on the online video platform.
Netflix has obviously been pleased with the show's performance, which has no doubt been bolstered by the character's already-existing fan base. The streaming service has ordered another eight episodes of Haters Back Off, matching its first-season total, for a return in 2017.

I really wanted to like it and I made it through 4 episodes. I thought at first it had potential to be offbeat and fun like Strangers With Candy. No such luck. It's the writing. It just isn't well written. Most of the gags fall flat, and at times its mostly just depressing. I mostly feel bad for the talent involved, because they give it their all. The material just isn't there.

Not a huge fan of this.. I do find it interesting how gorgeous Colleen Ballinger is.. and how well she hides that as Miranda.
