It's official - Girl Meets World will be ending its run after three seasons. The cancellation was announced this evening on the show writers' Twitter account, ending days of speculation after cast member Rider Strong alluded to the show ending over the weekend.

"It is with incredible pride in our work and complete sadness that things end, and I report to this wonderful audience that our show is over", the writers wrote in the first of a series of tweets. "I just officially got the call, and would like to thank this audience for its incredible love and loyalty."

Girl Meets World premiered in 2014 as a sequel to the popular 90's sitcom Boy Meets World, which ended its run 16 years ago. The half-hour comedy followed Corey and Topanga's daughter Riley and her best friend Maya, who try their best to navigate all the twists and turns that come along with growing up into their teenage years.

Three episodes are scheduled to air in January before Girl Meets World signs off for good. Look for the series finale, aptly titled Girl Meets Goodbye, on January 20.
