The Tim Allen comedy ends after six seasons.
May 10, 2017
Word is out this afternoon that ABC has cancelled Last Man Standing after six seasons on the air. The news comes as a bit of a surprise, as the veteran comedy has been an overall consistent performer for the network on Friday nights.
On the air since 2011, Last Man Standing was another successful TV venture for comedian Tim Allen. The show was Allen's first return to the small screen since 90s hit Home Improvement, and while it didn't quite have the longevity of his past series, its 130-episode run was impressive by today's standards.

@InformedMover: Emily is right. Most conservatives are "Snowflakes." They melt if you say their show is low rated. They melt if you cancel it. They melt if you don't agree with them. Now you can agree with me and I am right or you can melt down and prove me right.
Or it is just a dumb term.
The show was cancelled because it was not getting advertiser dollars compared to the cost of the production. it was not getting advertiser dollars because a MAJORITY of viewers did not like it enough to watch it. Capatalism, and the 1st amendment, allows for the owner of the network who is paying for it to cancel what ever they want.

If the show was cancelled bc it wasn't "making money" then ABC should've tried it in other time slots on different days. Friday night's are typically not a stay at home & watch tv night. Seems like if they wanted it to succeed, they could have tried harder. Solid ratings on a friday night show should be proof enough. It was a great show...

All the people saying to was canceled due to being to political obviously never watched the show. It has been political from the very start. You are an idiot if you think abc canceled it because of that. First off abc and Tim Allen have a great relationship and they knew what the show was going to be about and the joke Allen would tell. They would have been canceled after the first season if ABC had a proble with it. Second do some research and you will find the show wasn't making enough money. It doesn't matter if ratings are steady, the advertiser need to make money off the show or they will no longer pay to put their commercials in and then the show will no longer air. Do you expect Tim Allen and the rest of the cast to give up their pay checks for you? Any other station would cancel a show that doesn't bring enough to money in to cover the cost it takes to make the show and that is what ABC did. Also, there was a fee they paid in order to have rights to air the show on top of that. Six seasons is actually a good run for a show as most are canceled after three. Also, Tim Allen isn't upset and blaming ABC for the show being canceled and isn't making it about politics. He understands that the show needs to make money to survive.

Message to those few who periodically berate people for complaining about a decision to cancel a show they like - to those berating people for being idiots to complain because as you claim: the decisions are based entirely on ratings. HIGH RATINGS DID NOT STOP THIS SHOW FROM BEING CANCELLED. RATINGS ARE USUALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR, BUT FAR FROM ALWAYS.

In case you haven't heard, there's a quickly growing petition to save Last Man Standing:
It's currently approaching 240k signatures and has been mentioned by EW, ET, and FoxNews, as well as by Amanda Fuller (Kristin Baxter) and James Woods.

To all the people complaining that this is political... 1. That wouldn't be new. Shows have been cancelled for being too liberal and too conservative in the past and will probably be a reality of mass media for the foreseeable future. It's life. 2. In this instance look at the full context. This same network cancelled other shows that were obviously more liberal leaning like "The Real O'Neals". If all shows cancelled had been more conservative then by all means complain and protest to your heart's content. But in this case it's probably not deserved. The network has said it was due to their decision to axe comedies from friday night and the slots weren't there for the show. The truth is probably something we'll never know. Demanding stars, demanding network, disagreement on creative content. Who knows. Don't jump to the trump thing. Your snowflakes are showing.

I an a liberal and I loved the show..don't show your ignorance by placing blame when you have no idea why it was cancelled! it's sad when you can't even take politics out of entertainment!!!!

@Emily I think you are confused...its the liberal snowflakes doing all of the complaining. No snowflakes on the conservative side. This show was great and refreshing to see a different side represented on tv. God forbid they don't go along with the liberal mindset. Between the conservative politics represented and the family values shown, its no wonder why abc pulled the plug.

Liberals at ABC hate real Americans and just could not allow one single Conservative program to exist, despite great ratings for this awesome show. I hate ABC!
