No Season 3 for the Shondaland series.
May 11, 2017
It is being reported that ABC has cancelled The Catch after two seasons. The sophomore drama, which was produced by TV heavyweight Shonda Rhimes, debuted in early 2016 as a mid-season entry with a lot of buzz attached to it. While it drew modest ratings on Thursday nights, the show never materialized into 'hit' status.
In fact, ahead of Season 2 the show was retooled into more of a romantic comedy, but the move did little to change its fortunes. Despite a fairly good reception from critics, ratings fell ever lower this spring.
Mireille Enos and Peter Krause headlined the series, which followed a top L.A. private investigator who is conned out of millions of dollars by her fiancé. Determined for payback, she sets out on her own private mission to get her money back - and an explanation.

I loved the first season and couldn't wait for season two. Bringing in that stupid crime family at the end of season one lowered the quality of the show. When they continued into season two I quit watching. Had the main guy just worked for the FBI and the other family had all been put away in the first episode of season two, I think the show would have continued. Also bringing in the idiot brother was also a show killing idea. It is my guess that smart people who like clever shows about intrigue and suspense, don't want to watch idiot brothers doing stupid things and getting into trouble. It turned a clever show with amazingly bright characters into a show that just wasn't funny or interesting. I hate watching stupid characters AND/OR people who put up with such idiots. When smart people continue associating with idiots it really lessons their credibility.

Why do they cancel such quick-witted shows like the catch (ABC), Pure Genius (CBS), The Blacklist: Redemption (NBC). They were some of the best. Almost enough to make you quit watching TV shows!!!

Oh look another slot opened up for more garbage reality tv crap. Every time I find a show I like it last maybe 2 seasons and then boom, another show about housewives, or people dating while their naked gets shoved down our throats. This country is really dumbing down very fast. At least with a show like The Catch you had to think about how they were going to pull off a con.

You mean ABC dares to let a Shonda show go?

Mirielle Enos just wasn't the right actor for her character. She's a good actor, but not for this role. I wasn't a fan, and going by the ratings, neither were a lot of other folx. I think the show would have done better with a different lead actor.

I liked this show !! Even Season 2 !! ABC execs have no clue what their audience like - Last Man Standing for example !! Was an awesome show !!

Hey, Ace, if you're going to make silly threats on the internet you should make them against the correct people. You'll look a lot less stupid.

While season 2 was a bit all over the place, I did really like the show and the characters. I'm sorry to see it go, but I do appreciate that they pretty much gave it an ending (though somewhat open ended). It may not have been the ending everyone was rooting for, but it was the most logical and still a pretty good deal for all of the characters involved.
