The Saturday drama will not return.
May 17, 2017
With the announcement of their 2017-2018 schedule, CBS has confirmed that Ransom has been cancelled after one season. The suspense drama never really appeared a candidate for a second season, given the fact that it premiered on New Years Day before being relegated to Saturday nights for the remainder of its run.
An international co-production, Ransom followed a veteran hostage negotiator whose team works to resolve some of the most difficult kidnap and ransom cases. The team uses its insight into human behavior to resolve these intense situations while refusing to resort to violence no matter the stakes.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... I love this show. Why doesn't CBS give it a normal time slot ??

I really liked this show. I thought the acting was top notch and the storylines were really good, given the potentially limited paramaters of a show about a negotiator. I agree also with the stupid time slot being a huge part of the show's lack of success. I think given a different day and time it would have found a following. So yes, I join some of the other commenters here in wondering why the network wanted it to fail by putting it to premiere on New Year's Day and then putting into a Saturday evening time slot. It was set up to get as few viewers as possible. Good luck to all the actors on your next endeavours.

Since a Saturday night-slot is almost certain to make a drama fail, the question is why did they want this to fail.
Maybe taking a strong stand against violence isn't part of the psychological state they want to help cultivate.

Who didn't see this coming?

This is what happens when you air a show on saturday nights :P Saw this one coming. Although I did watch the show. Not enough advertising and on a stupid night. Good cast, good premise, and yeah well that's that.

I started out skeptical, but the show quickly grew on me. I applaud the clever multitude of plot variations that required a negotiator. But, it was doomed. Not because of quality or entertainment, but its ridiculous time slot and so forth. One of those shows destined to fail because of back room network politics and double-dealing.
