Word is out that Netflix has picked up Atypical for a second season. Star Michael Rapaport broke the news this afternoon with a Twitter post officially confirming the renewal.
The good news follows a well-received freshman outing for the comedic drama, which premiered in August with an eight-episode run. For Season 2, Netflix has increased the episode count to 10 for a likely return in 2018.
Atypical follows Sam, a teenager on the autism spectrum, and his family. Sam has recently decided to enter the dating scene, but before looking for love he must prove that he can be independent, which also puts his mother on her own life-changing path. Now she and the rest of Sam's family need to adjust to the change and discover what their new normal is.
I certainly hope so because this show was phenomenal in year one. My wife and I were blown away by how good it was. Put it this way - if you like Sheldon on BBT, you'll love this show.
