It is being reported that MTV has renewed Floribama Shore for a second season. The good news arrives ahead of the show's first-season finale, which airs tonight, capping a successful eight-episode run for the cable network's latest hit series.

Premiering this past November, it didn't take long for the new reality show to start attracting viewers. Its strong ratings over the course of the season rank it as the top original cable series on Mondays at 10:00pm.

Using the proven formula that made Jersey Shore a household name just under a decade ago, this new entry in the franchise follows eight young adults spending their summer in Panama City Beach. Each of them brings their own personal experiences and is at a personal crossroads in their life, whether it's the end of a relationship, becoming independent for the first time, or trying to escape their past. But during their summer getaway, reality gets put on hold just a little longer as they party it up.

MTV is expanding Floribama Shore for Season 2, ordering 20 new episodes for later this year. Look for a premiere sometime in the summer.
