The hit zombie drama will return with a new showrunner.
January 13, 2018
AMC announced today that The Walking Dead has been renewed for a ninth season. The good news comes during the show's winter break as fans await its return to see how the death of an original character will play out after they were bitten in last month's mid-season finale.
The post-apocalyptic zombie drama has continued rank as one of TV's top scripted series, though some plot elements in recent seasons have resulted in its audience numbers dropping off from the highs it experienced a few years back. Viewership in the current season is the lowest it has been since Season 2, though its average of over 8 million viewers per episode is still considered quite healthy.
A change in showrunner is being made for Season 9, as longtime writer Angela Kang will take over for Scott M. Gimple, who has been at the helm of the show for the past five seasons. Gimple will still be involved with series though, as he is taking the role of Chief Content Officer, overseeing both The Walking Dead and its spin-off Fear The Walking Dead.
Look for Season 9 of The Walking Dead this fall. For now, Season 8 is set to resume the back-half of its run on February 25.

I wouldn't miss an episode of this but it needs some new plots like how about finding out what started the pandemic.

hope it improves. the stories tend to run out of steam in the last couple of outings.

I still watch but am getting very tired of rick, michonne, and some of the others. time to move onto different characters taking point or rap it up.

How to spot an old codger..... they go on a rant about modern entertainment, such as video games, digital music, social media... I mean.. they may as well wear a sign screaming "I'm Over 60!!!" and stand around wagging their finger. Moron.

I’ve never missed an episode of this show and will watch it til the end but I’m not sure why it’s still called walking dead when there are little to no zombies anymore.

This show is taking it's stories from the comic books. This is a drama horror show and not a video game , which means it has slow moments! Even a whole episode where maybe there's one zombie kill! Oh no. What will video gamers do? it doesn't go boom , boom all the time!. In fact most movies and such don't have a lot of action like a video game. Thank god I gave up video games.

.. they do seem to be in a cycle.... come across bad guys.. fight them... get away... come across different bad guys... fight them... get away..... come across even more bad guys.... fight them.. lose.... fight again... get away....It's like they don't have any NEW ideas for storylines, jsut remakes of previous storylines.

I gave up on this one like 2 years ago. It became so boring It went from "How to survive when zombies are around" to "How to deal with a psychopath, and another, and another and sometimes there's zombies too!"
Can't say I'm surprised, though.
