The legal drama will return for Season 2.
May 11, 2018
ABC announced today that For The People has been renewed for a second season. One of Shondaland's new entries for 2017-2018, the legal drama premiered in March with a 10-episode run.
Through its first eight episodes, the hour-long series hasn't made much of an impact in the ratings. In its 10:00pm time slot on Tuesday nights, it regularly falls behind its competition by a significant margin.
For The People takes place in and around the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Known as The Mother Court, it is home to some of the most high-profile cases in the country. Here, a group of talented young lawyers working on opposite sides of the law spend their days tackling these high-stakes federal cases.

Great show. The legal system needs a lot of work. The fight of justice is really handled by money. Power of the prosecution is only equal to money. The jails are overfilled with poor, none white, and badly educated. The show and the system have got to improve. That why I will watch it is everyone wishes that the system services and protects. The system needs to bring education and hope. So people follow the law because it is an opposition that is available. The dying of the American dream for the 99%..

Finally a show that is not x rated and not raunchy. Characters are developing and the dialogue is excellent. Please keep it going. There is so much garbage on TV now and so little to watch.

So surprised to see this staying around. It’s characters are ok but storylines are awful. It even says here the ratings are bad. I had high hopes for this and RISE (which has been cancelled) but both are let downs.

I'm surprised. I like it, but no one else I know does. I too am happy with Brit Robertson over Britne oleford as Sandra. I will be watching season 2, just was preparing for another axe to fall.

Wow! Yet another network renewal that I didn't expect. I have really loved Britt Robertson in multiple other parts that she has played so she was my main draw to check this show out. She didn't disappoint. The rest of the cast hasn't wow'd me, but they haven't made me stop watching either.
If I had realized this show is part of "Shondaland," I might not have been quite so surprised with the renewal. If ratings don't puck-up, even high power connections may not be enough next season - i.e. The Catch
I am always surprised or maybe confused that so many people watch shows live that time slot competition even matters. I would think total viewers would compare to ALL other shows - not just time block. Apparently people do watch scripted shows live, but the thought of watching all the commercials horrifies me!
