The origin drama will conclude in 2019.

Fox announced today that Batman prequel Gotham has been renewed for a fifth and final season. The DC Comics-based drama, which follows the beginnings of the infamous city and all of its villains, has been a solid performer for the network over the course of its run.
In Season 4, viewers started seeing a young Bruce Wayne masquerading as a masked vigilante to fight crime in the city. The final season of the origin story will further follow his transformation into the caped crusader.
While each of the show's previous seasons has been 22 episodes in length, it is being reported that a shorter 13-episode run is being considered to conclude the series. Look for the final chapter of Gotham to premiere during the 2018-2019 season, likely as a mid-season entry.

Very good show, they're probably ending to make way for another mindless reality show - America's Next Batman.

Have yet to start the show (to many shows to watch and to little time) but have all the episodes and am happy to hear it is being concluded and not just cancelled. So will probably wait till final/near final to catch up.

CW should pick it up the following season with a new show.....”The Dark Night”....with the same cast. They would be thrilled with 3 million viewers an episode. They could start a new Batman series.

I'm happy to see it got one more season. I thought it may have been done. It's always good when a show can end with the writing giving a proper ending.
