The buddy cop drama will return in 2018-2019.
May 13, 2018
Fox announced today that Lethal Weapon will be coming back for a third season. While the action drama remains a solid ratings draw, its future had been in doubt in recent weeks after star Clayne Crawford was fired over multiple alleged on-set incidents.
Today's renewal comes along with the announcement of Crawford's replacement, as Seann William Scott will be stepping in to play the part of a new character to partner with Damon Wayans' Roger Murtaugh. The role will be Scott's first as a regular in a television series. The actor is perhaps best-known for his roles as Stifler in the American Pie movies and Chester in Dude, Where's My Car?
Based on the movie franchise of the same name, Lethal Weapon follows two Los Angeles cops as they team up to fight crime in the city of angels. Look for the show to return this fall as part of Fox's 2018-2019 lineup.

@David.
Exactly! I agree with you 100%. So people are ok with an actor no matter how they act, but god forbid he was accused of sexual harassment then you'd be asking for his head.
Some of you people are dumb mindless sheep.

Not watching without Clayne Crawford.
it will just be Seann William Scott playing a character exactly like Clayne Crawford's. They will just wind up re-filming the first season over.

This is basically the Riggs & Murtaugh show. How can it lose Riggs and be anything but another procedural? If they cast a Riggs-like character, it will just be annoying. If they go a completely different direction, it won't be Lethal Weapon so what is the point? I do feel badly for all the people who's livelihood depends on this show.
I have to add: when I 1st saw A's comment and Steve S. ditto it, I was surprised by the hate. But Steve S, you know I respect your opinion so of course I scrolled for Andrew's comment. Wow! Add my ditto to A's comment. It is well said and accurate.

This was a good show and I was a "Regular" viewer for the first two season, but I am willing to give season three a shot..Most shows have behind the scenes drama going on!! Clayne Crawford did a good job on this show and its a shame what happened, maybe he is a "Method" actor!!

I really like the show,so we'll have to wait and see.Actors work harder then what people think,so you don't need that added stress of a hot headed actor,producer,director to deal with.If you can't play well with others,then Fox did right DON'T PLAY!

Ditto what @A just said. There is no reason to inject nonexistent issues. In the Lethal Weapon franchise, Riggs (Mel & Clayne) are the main heroes stars whether you like the actors or not. Damon is great as Roger, but just like Riggs in the TV version, they and the show became far to silly for me. I am surprised how many here stayed liking it - but I think it is because they like BOTH Clayne and Damon, not because the show is really. Neither one can carry it anymore - might as well make a change. More importantly, fire the producer, show runner, and writers. Otherwise Lethal Weapon is a cow.

Andrew, you're an idiot. This has nothing to do with race. Also, his name is Damon WAYANS. I know him all the way back to In Living Color and I grew up watching My Wife and Kids. Neither his skin color nor his history in the business are relevant to people enjoying Clayne's performance on the show.

Riggs is a LETHAL WEAPON and that is the point of the show. He is mentally damaged goods but a serious weapon due to his past life experiences. Onscreen Clayne and Damon appear to be fantastic together and enhanced each others characters. Without Riggs there is no "Lethal Weapon" and therefore no real show since the title is literally a metaphor meaning Riggs after all. Will watch at least one show but doubt another actor can pull it off. Maybe in 20 years they can try again with new actors, but for now lets see.

You people singing Clayne Crawford’s praises need to get your heads out of your asses. He was obviously acting like a dick and deserves the termination. Once y’all solve your head up ass problem open the mind inside and give Sean William Scott a chance before writing off the series.
