No Season 4 for the medical drama.
May 24, 2018
It looks like the current season of Code Black will be its last, as CBS has opted not to bring the medical drama back for Season 4. Word came from showrunner Michael Seitzman, who broke the sad news to his Twitter followers overnight.
The decision to cancel the series comes four episodes into the current third season, which premiered in April as a mid-season entry. The show was previously on the network's regular fall schedule for its first two seasons, but never really found a sizeable audience. Both of its past renewals came as last-minute decisions, but it looks like the network already knows what it wants to do this time around.
Inspired by an award-winning documentary, Code Black takes place in the busiest emergency room in the country. The term refers to when there are more patients than personnel or resources to treat them all, which occurs an alarming 300 days a year. The outstanding staff of this notoriously overcrowded and understaffed ER work to protect their patients and their ideals by confronting a challenged system that pushes them to their limits.

I've just watched the last episode of Code Black.....
A wonderful cast, fantastic scripts and stories.
... it was moving, full of hope and drama.
I still can't believe this was cancelled.
CBS please reconsider.

Just watched the finale. There are few shows that have moved me and gripped my attention every episode like Code Black. It was finely crafted and acted down to the last detail to ensure the audience experienced each nuance to the fullest. It will leave a big void in my viewing choices.

Very disappointed with CBS for cancelling this great show. We watch less and less network tv. Wonder why? We are sick of reality shows! Bring back good tv. Hopefully another network will pick up up this great show. Lots of silly sitcoms on now. Can’t watch them. Just plain bad.

What are you thinking cbs. Going to cancel a great show like code black but you feel that magnum p.i and Murphy brown are wonderful additions. Please tell me that you listen to the people out here instead of sitting around your conference tables and rehashing shows from the 70s and the 80s. You have something good and original and you throw it away not all of us want more reality shows. Please hope that someone grows a brain and see that people are really upset over this. If CBS doesn’t want code black I hope that one of the other channels jumps on this and runs with a good show.

I will really miss this show - I've enjoyed watching the characters grow. This finale will probably have me in tears - so many open issues to be resolved in one episode, because the writers had time to do a decent closure. Looking forward to seeing cast members in other roles.

My husband and I are deeply saddened by the cancellation of Code Black - the show is poignant, fast-paced, always interesting and has a great cast. Please bring it back ASAP!!!!! We already miss the show and haven't yet seen the season finale. Wake up producers and sponsors!!!!!

Nnnoooooo!!!! Do not cancel this show. I love the story lines and the actors. You get us hooked on these shows and then take them away from us. What's the matter with you people. I would rather watch shows like this as opposed to the reality tv shows or Big Bang theory which is just stupid. Please reconsider this decision and keep this show on the air. If not on cbs then another station. Someone pick this show back up and continue to give us viewers what we want

I'm heartbroken and pi**ed off that yet another quality tv program has been cancelled. There is little quality tv shows on the air as it is. A lot of us are tired of the BS reality shows that networks try to cram down out throats. I guess since I'm not in their target age group, I don't matter. Shame on you. I hope another network picks this show up. Please.

Excellent drama episodes with enough tear-jerking to mellow even the hardest of hearts. Alas, the not-so-reality shows seem to take lead followed closely by the mindless, canned comedies. Seems everything is a mirror to our current political world.
