The Conners will debut on ABC with no involvement from Roseanne Barr.
June 25, 2018
Less than a month after cancelling the Roseanne revival, ABC has confirmed that a spin-off featuring the rest of the cast will take its place this fall in the 8:00pm Tuesday time slot. The move had been expected for some time, as the network was looking for a way to continue the success of the Roseanne comeback, which impressively became the top comedy on television.
Expected to be called The Conners, the new series will take place following "a sudden turn of events" that will explain the removal of Roseanne from the show. The rest of the family will continue to tackle daily working-class life in Lanford - only in a completely new way.
Expect the feel of the new show to remain mostly the same, as the existing writing and producing team will also transition over to The Conners. ABC has ordered 10 episodes of the show, which is down from the 13 episodes ordered for Season 2 of Roseanne. Look for the premiere later this year.

No thanks ABC...
Let me start by saying Darlene's and DJ's characters are such a waste of space on that show. I love Sara Gilbert, but sorry! Also, her two kids are so annoying that I almost gave up on the revival. So, that would leave Jackie, Dan and Becky to carry that show and that isn't going to happen. ABC has canceled better shows than this so why revive the show w/o Roseanne.

Is it just me or was the last episode aired (Knee Deep) when Roseanne was afraid to die having knee surgery practically predict how "the Connors" will explain she died during the surgery - it was like a dark prediction of the shows fate

Heres my prediction and some have already alluded to it on here. First episode with have astronomical ratings......the crickets after that. I never like that show and only watched a few episodes in the 90's before I wrote it off. Never regretted that decision. Also I never saw one episode of this new version....but I WILL be watching the first episode of "The Conners." How could I not? The whole "train wreck" effect, ya know?

No chance of watching without Roseanne. Sara Gilbert LEAST funny and MOST annoying person in the cast.

They should bring in the "Dick Sargent" version of Roseanne and then they can keep calling it Roseanne, or if Richard Simmons isnt available, they can just CGI Roseanne Barr into the show but replace her voice with Gilbert Gottfried. It's a win-win.

They tried this with 2 + 1/2 Men... didn't work then. It just wasn't the same. How do you remove the main character and keep the "show"? I like John Goodman -- but write him into something better. This whole thing is a huge shame. This was one of the few "re-boots" which actually worked. I cannot see the show working without Roseanne.

I won’t be watching it without Roseanne. She was the show and without her it will be a pitiful attempt by ABC to try to prove something.

Roseanne was always my favorite sitcom however I always thought the rest of the cast was funnier than Roseanne herself. Dan and Jackie make the show. I think they will do well without her. I am SUPER EXCITED for this spinoff!

Episode one will have high viewership in order to see how they kill off Rosie (My guess is complications during knee surgery) After premier episode it will starve for viewership but ABC will let it go for the full ten episodes to prove they can. Then, off to the dust bin of failed reboots.
