The supernatural thriller will end its run next week.
December 22, 2018
It is being reported that NBC has cancelled Midnight, Texas after two seasons. The news comes as the supernatural thriller winds down its sophomore run, with next week's episode on December 28 now acting as its series ender.
The show premiered in 2017 for a 10-episode summer stint that, while ultimately garnering mixed reviews, drew solid viewership numbers for the network. A number of changes were made in Season 2, including a move to the fall schedule, the departure of two original cast members, and a change of showrunners. But its momentum from Season 1 could not be maintained, as ratings have been softer this time around.
Based on the best-selling book series by Charlaine Harris, Midnight, Texas is a remote town that sits on a veil between the living and hell, and nothing is what it seems. It is a place where outsiders fit in and being normal is considered strange. As members of the town fight off pressures from ever-suspicious outsiders ranging from cops to biker gangs, they band together to form an unlikely, yet strong, family.

A difficult position to overcome by having one's show on a Friday night. The only successful (100+ episodes) shows that were in that time slot were Grimm and SG-1.

Oh surprise surprise, something other than a CSI show, family comedy, or talent show is being canceled. And the networks wonder why we subscribe to HBO, NETFLIX, and other diverse stations.

NBC, CBS. All the primes suck! If I were an actor I would be afraid of the idiots on those stations canceling my show without giving it a chance. The show was refreshing, well acted and just plain fun to watch!!!. Bring it to a station that knows what they have... a Gem of a show!

They never gave this one a chance by putting it on friday. Still we must thank them for two seasons. It was a fun show and I will miss it. But it reminded me of the cancelled sci fy show Superstition which also had quirky characters.

NBC sucks. I loved this show and I know many others that felt the same way about it. Very disappointing. I thought this season was even better than the first, especially after getting rid of the 2 weak links, Creek and the Rev. I loved the addition of Jamie and Nestor. Hopefully the show will be picked up. This show is perfect for SyFy.

I figured. NBC is not usually one to stand behind a syfy fantasy show and running it in the fall and not in the summer like they did last year was their first mistake. why mess with what works? Probably cause some well paid idiot somewhere thought of it. Ugh.
