CBS announced today that S.W.A.T. has been picked up for a third season. The good news comes with two episodes remaining in the drama's sophomore run, which has continued to be a solid performer for the network.

The series premiered in 2017 with an initial 13-episode order that ended up faring well for the network. A few top-ups followed, resulting in a full season's worth of 22 episodes by the end of Season 1. The current season of the show will actually top that by one with a total of 23.

Shemar Moore stars in the Los Angeles-based series, which follows a former Marine tasked with running a specialized tactical unit that acts as the city's last stop in law enforcement. Raised on the streets, he is torn between his loyalty to his roots and his allegiance to his new brothers in blue as he works to bridge the divide between his two worlds.

Look for Season 3 to premiere as part of CBS' 2019-2020 lineup this fall.
