Freeform has picked up The Bold Type for a fourth season. The good news was announced today during the Freeform segment of Disney's upfront television presentation in New York for the 2019-2020 season.

The series premiered in the summer of 2017 and performed well out of the gate, garnering solid ratings and positive reviews. Three months later the cable network issued a two-season renewal, displaying their confidence in the new drama.

That took it to Season 3, which is currently five episodes into its run. The show has dipped somewhat in the ratings this time around but it still draws decent viewership in their targeted demographics.

Inspired by the life of Joanna Coles, chief content officer of Hearst Magazines, The Bold Type looks at the outrageous lives of some of the people responsible for a popular global women's magazine. The rising generation of its readers lean on each other as they find their own voices among a world of intimidating leaders. Together they find their identity while exploring friendships, sexuality, love, and fashion.

Look for Season 4 of The Bold Type during the 2019-2020 season.
