Season 3 will air on the streaming service.
July 20, 2019
It was announced today that The Orville will be moving to Hulu for its upcoming third season. Creator Seth MacFarlane broke the news at the show's Comic-Con panel, stating that production changes for Season 3 would delay its release and that the streaming service would be a better fit for its schedule needs.
The hour-long space dramedy is coming off a strong creative sophomore run which helped strengthen its already-loyal fan base. Its mix of thought-provoking sci-fi story lines and witty humour have helped it carve out an underserved niche in the television landscape.
Taking inspiration from Star Trek, The Orville takes place 400 years in the future, when Earth is just a small part of an advanced and mostly-peaceful Planetary Union. The U.S.S. Orville is a mid-level exploratory vessel with a human and alien crew led by rookie officer Ed Mercer, who is played by MacFarlane. Determined to prove his worth despite his First Officer being his ex-wife, Ed leads his crew as they face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar workplace problems.
Look for Season 3 of The Orville to premiere on Hulu in late 2020.

You'll be missed, I already subscribe to enough channels and streaming services, I cannot add Hulu to the mix just for the Orville, but I did love it while it lasted on "free" TV....

Great show, horrible decision. There is plenty of good television to be seen free over the air without monthly fees. If it had been "Simpsons" or "Family Guy" moving to Hulu instead of "The Orville", I would have been okay with that.

Seriously you guys? Do you now how many easy and free options are out there to be able to watch ANY show from ANY channel? You guys give up as soon as on little measly hurdle is put in front of you? Do some research.

I'm an old syfy fan. Syfy is good when it's also fun. This show hit that mark. Huge mistake to switch to streaming only. I'll bet you gold pressed latinum it's about the money!

Well.. I'm out! I really liked the show, but I'm only gonna have one streaming service and that's Netflix of course. Bye Bye... catch me again in a year or two when Bortus has his yearly pee!

As a lot before me said, I won't be paying for another service just to watch this show.
Yes, I loved this show and I guess Season 2 will be my last.
Another one bites the dust.....

I'm glad it will be back but if it wasn't for my sister having Hulu, I would NOT be paying to watch it. In process of saying bye bye to cable all together! A $7 antenna got me 39 FREE channels -- some I don't get thru cable. All these ridiculous streaming services with a jillion shows -- like that one person said OVERSATURATION. Thanks for helping make it easier for me to ditch TV altogether. Course I'm not the target audience anyway, but oh well.
