The family crime drama will continue in 2020.

TNT announced today that Animal Kingdom has been renewed for a fifth season. The good news arrives midway through Season 4, during which the drama has impressively continued to grow its audience. For 2019, the show ranks in the Top 10 cable dramas among viewers in the 18-49 demographic (Live+3).
The hour-long series follows a teenager who moves in with his tough, rule-breaking relatives in Southern California after his mom dies from a heroin overdose. When the family wants to bring him into the fold, he is not necessarily ready for the trouble that comes along with it.
Look for Season 5 of Animal Kingdom in early-to-mid 2020.

I'm so annoyed about Smurf. Had to get past the ridiculous name (yes I understand the backstory, but still, a blue-faced cartoon name for Barkin's character????? sheesh). Anyway, love Barkin, her acting, and it's so refreshing to see a female crime boss. I, too, wonder about ageism - as Floridal wrote, she was the cornerstone, defining everyone else. And there are so very, very, few shows that have any woman past the age of what, 40? Come on. This show offered multi-generational involvement. I'm worried it'll become sporadic events and nothing more than superficial eye candy shots. (Not complaining, but it's the drizzle of the plating, not the meal.)

Smurf was the cornerstone of this series. Barkin didn't want to leave and has voiced the decision negatively online indicating it was age bias. We may never know the real reason but I'm not sure the show can survive her departure. She was the centerpiece and all the other characters achieved definition through their relationship to her. I'm not all that interested in watching their lives destruct next season. I suspect next season will be the last.

I was more upset to see Baz go than smurf. I feel like they ended it well and I have to give credit to the writers for her flashback story, I was just as interested in that storyline as the current and it's always a risky move if not executing well and can alienate viewers. Seeing Popes dad definitely was spot on with their similarities. I feel like that also explained smurfs non attachment to other men after seeing her reaction to the loss of Colin. I also like the similarities between Jay and Baz even if not intentional. Also really like the addition of Emily Dechanel and I hope to see more Dennis Leary. I would also like to see "Pam" show up. I have a funny feeling her character would be the closest to smurf and her personality.

Did they just kill/ write Smurf out of the show? If yes, they maybe we can see more of Jenine's titties.

I absolutely LOVE this show. “Smurf” is bad ass, Excited for season 5....love watching her good looking son’s and grandson.

My favorite show since Prison Break and Dexter! So happy it's renewed! Can't wait til Tuesday's. Can't wait to find out how Smurf got her nickname and find out more about her past. Love her, her clothes and especially her HOT sons and grandson! And please don't kill her off or you'll lose me and a ton of other fans

I love this show I'm happy to hear there will be another season coming. Its a show you don't wanna miss cause there's always something exciting,all the characters play a good role. Thanks for keeping it on!

They should have had a contest on what to name Craig's baby I wonder what you're going to name him it's got to be cool and awesome he's going to be a good looking boy as good-looking as a son as father they should have had a contest on watching I want to name the baby I hope they don't call him b a Zj
