The Spanish drama will return in 2020.
October 4, 2019
Netflix officially announced today that Elite has been renewed for a third season. Coming a month after the release of its sophomore run, the good news makes official what many had already known, given that the Spanish-language series has actually already finished filming Season 3.
The pickup was a no-brainer for the streaming service considering the drama's continued popularity. After a buzzworthy debut in 2018 that had both fans and critics lauding its juicy storylines and compelling cast, the show avoided a sophomore slump in Season 2 and served up an even-better-received second run.
Elite follows three working-class students who are given scholarships to the exclusive Las Encinas private school in Spain. But their arrival clashes with their new wealthy classmates, and the tension leads to a murder, leaving everybody a suspect.
Season 3 of Elite will premiere in 2020.

Don't think of ratings as number of people anymore. That only works for ad based services where more money is given to the show. For non ad based service, think of number of people the show gets per dollar. If a show spends 1 million per season and brings in 100,000 people, it is bringing in 1 person for 10 dollars. If a show cost 5 million per season and brings in 250,000 people, it has 150% higher "ratings" but brings in 1 person for 20 dollars. For the same price a service can run 5 of the other shows and bring in 500,000 people or 200% more for the same price. It is called Return on Investment.
