The veteran drama ends after seven seasons.
February 4, 2020
Showtime announced today that Ray Donovan has completed its run and will not return for Season 8. The news comes two weeks after the long-running drama's Season 7 finale on January 19, which now serves as its series ender.
The news was somewhat unexpected given the show's continued solid performance, but at last month's TCA, Gary Levine, the cable network's co-president of Entertainment, commented that he thought it was nearing the end of its run. Many interpreted that as a signal that a final eighth season would be ordered, but obviously that was not the case.
Ray Donovan stars Liev Schreiber as the titular character, who does the dirty work for some of Los Angeles' most-powerful figures. As their go-to guy, he makes the problems of the city's elite celebrities, athletes, and businessmen disappear.

The Plopster is just sharing a theory (and I even called it a conspiracy theory which means maybe true maybe not). Not feeding into hate. Not making up baseless explanations. Just stating a few facts and piecing them together as a possible reason. If you don't agree, fine. But the only one fanning the flames of hatred is you Moe.

we are FINALLY at the root of everything. we FINALLY see why Ray is the way he is with Micky, and more importantly we see that Mickey deserves it times 10 (if nothing else but for the way he ended this last season of which i'm still pissed about). we FINALLY see why his sister Bridgette killed herself. we FINALLY see Ray in a situation that can't be so easily "handled". we have an EPIC season with some of the best writing, directing, acting, and the biggest cliffhanger ever seen on this show. and, we're done. now i know how Kathy Bates felt at the end of "Misery". i have all these questions, and Showtime is sitting there burning all the answers to it. if only i could find my ****** sledgehammer....

@Tommy, are you an idiot? It's people like you that feed into this political agenda that there's only two sides to something and the other has to be wrong, because your side is right (which has no basis in fact or reality) I don't blame the website, I blame unintelligent people like you who post and comment and make things up that aren't true and just feed into the hate. Just like @Plop did. He has no imagination and can't figure out why a show was cancelled so he makes something totally baseless up. How about the show was cancelled for reasons you don't need to know. The fact is it's cancelled. All the theory posturing means nothing. In reality you have no control and your opinion in the end means nothing.

@Moe because I can't think of another reason and everyone is perplexed over this cancellation 7... I hope its not that but decided to share my conspiracy theory with you all.

@moeb Don't blame plop for this website. Almost every article has some nut job troll do 1 of 2 things; 1. Blame a show success on SJWs ruining things ( because they don't want others to succeed); or 2. Blame liberal Hollywood for a shows cancellation. (Because they want their show given handouts even if no one watches it) It's just the way this site goes.

@Plop really why do we need to involve politics on this. Enough already. Not everything is associated with politics.

Conspiracy theory from The Plopster: Hollywood hates Trump. Jon Voight loves Trump. The show runners teased Micky's death more than once, including this season. His death obviously means he is off the show but they kept letting him live. Showtime execs got tired of the teasing and just axed the show.

This one makes no sense. This show was never even an "on the bubble" type show. Even the showrunner was shocked, I read. Hopefully, it gets picked up by somebody else.

I really hate that they are canceling Ray Donovan, I love this show. They seem to cancel all the good shows and put crap on that nobody wants to watch, no wonder they are losing all their viewers.

This was the only show that I kept my Showtime subscription for. My Showtime subscription has completed it's seven season run, and will not be renewed.
