The veteran drama ends after seven seasons.
February 4, 2020
Showtime announced today that Ray Donovan has completed its run and will not return for Season 8. The news comes two weeks after the long-running drama's Season 7 finale on January 19, which now serves as its series ender.
The news was somewhat unexpected given the show's continued solid performance, but at last month's TCA, Gary Levine, the cable network's co-president of Entertainment, commented that he thought it was nearing the end of its run. Many interpreted that as a signal that a final eighth season would be ordered, but obviously that was not the case.
Ray Donovan stars Liev Schreiber as the titular character, who does the dirty work for some of Los Angeles' most-powerful figures. As their go-to guy, he makes the problems of the city's elite celebrities, athletes, and businessmen disappear.

Very disappointed that we are going to be left hanging with a ton of unanswered questions and dangling storylines. On the other side...what an amazing ride this series has been.Hats off to all who starred in this amazing series. If anyone knows how to reach Showtime to voice my displeasure...let me know (an email address). I have searched on their corporate site and not a thing on how to contact them.

This Penny Dreadful is in no way connected to the first one.Sounds like it's PC inspired.

I didn't see this coming. What a disappointment. After seven seasons, you would expect, the show-runners would give the fans a good sendoff. Really unfair.

They're bringing back Penny Dreadful.. as if that's somehow even close to the quality of Ray Donovan or Shameless.

This is one of me and my husband’s favorite shows! After watching and loving this show for seven years, the audience and the characters deserve a proper ending. Gary Levine and Showtime should change the cancellation and order a short and final 8th season so the writers wrap everything up and we can all bid a proper farewell to this beloved show. With Homeland and Shameless also ending in 2020, cancelling Ray Donovan feels like Showtime doesn’t care about the longtime loyal subscribers who have supported this show.
