HBO announced today that My Brilliant Friend has been picked up for a third season. The good news comes just days before the drama wraps its sophomore run, which once again garnered critical acclaim.
Adapted for television from Elena Ferrante's series of novels, the show follows Elena Greco, an elderly author who discovers that a lifelong friend of hers named Lila has disappeared. Learning this causes Elena to reflect back on their budding friendship in Naples, Italy in the 1950s, going on to cover over 60 years of their lives as Elena describes the mystery of Lila.
Season 2 was based on the second book in the series, The Story of a New Name, and Season 3 will continue that trend and be based on Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay.

I love it, and I love hearing them speak Italian with subtitles.
