HBO announced today that Insecure has been picked up for a fifth season. The good news comes three episodes into the acclaimed comedy's Season 4 run, which once again has been garnering positive praise from both audiences and critics.
Insecure stars Issa Rae, who created the series along with Larry Wilmore, as one of two modern-day black women who share their awkward life experiences through their close friendship. New episodes are currently airing Sunday nights.
Look for Season 5 of Insecure in 2021.

Surprisingly well written and "feels" more authentic than many racially-driven shows. It doesn't seem to dumb-down it's writing for the "en masse white audience" and it doesn't play up the whole "thug life" stereotype that white audiences seem to expect. (Disclosure: I am white) This show is fantastic at little moments which elucidate systemic racism. Seem to me to be a rare gem. I like it.
