The comedy will return to Fox in 2020-2021.
May 19, 2020
Fox announced today that Last Man Standing has been picked up for a ninth season. The good news comes three weeks after the comedy wrapped Season 8, which was cut slightly short due to the coronavirus pandemic shutdown.
The renewal is its second at Fox. The Tim Allen series aired for six seasons at its original home on ABC before being cancelled in 2017. Since its revival, Last Man Standing has been garnering healthy ratings, currently ranking as one of Fox's most-watched and top-rated comedies.
Last Man Standing follows Mike Baxter, a man's man who works as a marketing director for a sporting goods store. But while he may be the king of the hill at work, he's the odd man out at his female-dominated household.
Look for Season 9 of Last Man Standing in the mid-season of 2020-2021.

Get rid of the Exchange Student > her character is irritating & her lines are cringe-worthy.

My husband and I really like this show. So happy it’s going to be returning. Great to have a show you can watch without all the “hoopla”!

Hack work.. just recycles storylines..... run for political office.. start a car resto business... daughter at the Air Force Academy (Which is like 60 miles away from Denver.. Eve COULD visit more). it's so... so... so... "rich white folk"....was worth watching when the daughters were attractive.. but with one being gone, one pregnant (now 2).. and a new actress replacing the hottest daughter (miss you Molly!!!)... well...... Nancy Travis, while still hot, can't hold that much interest. Otherwise, it's a "boy club", and as cliché as ever in that respect. It's a distraction because no other networks are competing against it... if other networks put one a half-decent show in the same time slot and were to try and compete, I suspect this show's ratings would tank.

I've loved this show since the first episode. Love all the characters. Glad it has been renewed. Now if they are ever allowed to stand within 6' of each other to tape new episodes, that is the question.

Show is childish garbage.

Weirdly, they seem to have toned down the political stuff since the move to FOX (which is a good thing, it was becoming really ridiculous at the end of the ABC run).

I saw an episode where the wife was wearing pants, at Mike's work (not her house), talking about her job. Too lefty a show. When it gets back to real conservatism I might watch it again.

Makes me happy. Im not a fan of the sitcom, but i like this one and Young Sheldon because the humor is so ground-in and doesnt rely solely on puns and turd/sex jokes. I look forward to watching it after the apocalypse!
