No Season 2 for the midseason drama.
June 25, 2020
Word is out that NBC has cancelled Council of Dads after one season. Star J. August Richards took to Twitter this afternoon with the sad news, which comes ahead of next week's scheduled season finale - now its series ender.
The show premiered in March for a 10-episode midseason run that ultimately underperformed for the network. Critical reception was decidedly mixed and ratings were among the lowest on NBC compared to its other dramas.
Council of Dads follows a father of four whose life is turned upside down after an unexpected health scare. Concerned for his family's well-being in the case of his absence, he recruits some of his closest friends to step in as back-up dads to help guide his kids through every stage of their lives.

Very positive show about dads. How sad is it that they cancel this? but ratings matter and most tv watchers that matter to networks are younger ones. HELLO, this was a older persons show.

This was a good family drama for the whole family to enjoy of course NBC would cancel it. I usually don't watch anything new on NBC or ABC because they cancel too easily for me to get invested. They will renew those crappy reality tv shows, talent shows, and game shows nobody cares to watch. I hope Netflix or one of the other streaming services picks this show up. Very disappointed fan.

Stupid decision!! Get invested in a good show then cancels it. What more game shows in its place??
